Twos company challenge

The lovely Sheila is running a challenge over on her blog http://craftcreatoins.blogspot.co.uk/2012/08/twos-company-challenge.html?spref=fb
The theme is making anything using Beaders Companion and Crafters Companion or a collection of both. This is my entry;

This is from the winter paintbox Poppets and is a card with a bookmark added which fits into the little pocket on the front of the card. You may have seen Sara Davies showing it on Create and Craft as it was one of the samples I did for the Design Team. The bookmark is from Beaders Companion and i just added some red and green beads and a epiphany pendant at the bottom using one of the embellishments from the CD.

Thanks for stopping by and happy crafting xxxx

Sneaky peeks day 3

Well only 1 more sleep to go before the launch of the wonderful Winter Paintbox Poppets!

I just loved this image of the little boy and girl so much so that I discovered that out of all my 6 samples for the design team I had used the same image twice..dohhhhh.

This card was made using some of the great backing papers from the CD and one of the borders which have fantastic leaves and flowers on. This was embellished further with more leaves from the embellishment section on the CD. I also made some of the red and white embellishments using the epiphany tool round 14. The CD has a great section with some gift tags on so I printed one out to make a little pocket for the bookmark.
The bookmark was made using one of the silver metal bookmarks from the Beaders Companion website and I added some red and green glass beads from the small glass bead boxes onto some silver beading wire and to finish a small red and white embellishment from the CD made with the epiphany tool and a metal frame. This then slotted into the little pocket on the card. For further embellishment I made 3 little gem sticks using head pins I added some red beads and glued the last one in place to stop it falling down the headpin and attached to the card with Collall glue gel and then covered it with the sentiment;

Sneaky peek number 2

Sorry this post is so late but not feeling at all well this week and blogging is the last thing on my mind!

The wonderful Sarah Millsop was on Create and Craft this morning showing off the wonderful Christmas decorations from Beaders Companion and here I am going to show you that they are not just for the christmas tree!!

This card was made with one of the stunning toppers from the pick of the week on which will be launched on friday , Winter Paintbox Poppets. You are going to love it. The images are all stunning as are the backing papers..well all of it really..lol
I used some of the leaf embellishments from the CD but thought it needed some sparkle so I attached one of the poinsettias from the  Beaders Companion christmas decorations range. I just used collall glue gel to attach and I think it looks great. I also made 3 little gem stems that are poking out of the sentiment. These were made from head pins and I then just added some festive red beads to coordinate with the card and used a bit of collall to hold the last bead in place and then attached to the card with a good amount of the glue gel. So it just goes to show that beads and decorations can be used in card making as well.

Thanks for stopping by xxx

1st Sneaky peek

Here is my 1st sneaky peak on my Birthday ,at what can be created from the Winter Paintbox  Poppets that is pick of the week on Create and Craft from this Friday at noon.

The images on this CD are stunning and it is so hard to choose where to start. As my DT role is slightly different from the other DT members I had to come up with an item of jewellery using items from the CD and products from the Beaders Companion website.But where to start????
The backing papers are all stunning so i just went with my favourite colour, pink  and printed 3 sheets from the design sets and 3 sheets from the coordinating papers onto light printable card. These were then cut length ways into triangle shapes and the rolled on a wooden kebab stick and glued and then left to dry overnight.
Once dry I sprayed them with the new pink spray and sparkle from Crafters Companion to seal them and make them more sturdy so that they did not fall apart when worn.
I then set out the design on my bead board coordinating between the patterned beads and the plain. I then used some of the wonderful pink pearls from Beaders companion to create and more substantial piece. I used 3 strands of gold beading wire and cut it to 3 different lengths.At the end of each piece of beading wire a crimp bead was added and then the wire secured to a jump ring.  The beads were then just simply threaded on and once happy with the design a crimp bead was added and attached to a gold jump ring. Once all 3 layers were completed they were all attached to gold jump rings and then the fastener to create a  multi layer necklace.
The earrings were very easy to make using a head pin and adding a pearl and then cutting down and forming a loop and then attaching an eye pin and then the paper bead and another pink pearl and then forming a loop and attaching to the earring finding.
The bracelet is made with stretch elastic and is simply beads added onto the elastic and when happy with the size and design a surgeons knot was used and a dab of clear nail varnish to secure. You can use very fine stretch elastic as the beads are so light.

All of the findings were from the Beaders Companion box of gold findings.
I then needed a gift box to co-ordinate with the jewellery so I printed off the same backing paper that some of the beads were made from and just matted and layered it using coordinations card and centura pearl. The topper is just so sweet and from the toppers section of the CD. There are so many to choose from but this pink poppet was perfect.
Using a couple of beads left over I created a small embellishment on the box. I used some gold beading wire and coiled the end and then added the paper beads and the pearls and finished off with a bow.

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to watch Create and Craft for the big launch on Friday.

More Best Friends

Here is another entry to the Crafters Companion blog challenge with the theme being Best Friends. I made this card for a very special friends birthday so couldn't post it on here until she had received it!!

The image is a stamp from Crafters companion SWALK range and is called Best Friends so it fitted in perfectly. I coloured the image with my spectrum noir pens and then using backing papers from my stash and a scalloped circle die from spellbinders and also a wonderful fancy flourish this is the finished result;

Best Friends

The lovely people over at Crafters Companion are running a blog challenge with Best Friends as a theme and chance of winning a £30 crafters companion voucher.

As soon as I saw it was best friends dear little Humphrey and family came to mind. So out came the stamp conveniently called Best Friends and I coloured in the image with my spectrum noirs which I am now getting used to after several disasters lol.
I then mounted this onto some coordiantions card and used some left over backing papers from the CD for the front and insert of the card. Then added a few flowers and some pearls to finish and here you have it;

Die'sire

Those wonderful people at Crafters Companion are launching a great new range of products which include some fantastic dies. As a design team member I was lucky enough to be sent 2 of the dies to have a play with.

The 2 I received were Lace Border 1 and Waltz Frame. They are top quality dies and excellent to use.

The mission we were set was to create 6 cards using the dies and current Crafters Companion products and these were the results ;

The wonderful Leann Chivers will be launching these on Create and Craft soon so keep an eye on the Crafters Companion news blog for updates.

Steam-punk challenge

Morning everyone and welcome to August....where has the year gone????
I love trying out different techniques and styles of card and the great group over on Facebook called Crazee Crafters were running a July challenge with the theme being "steampunk" so I thought I would have a go and below is the card that I entered and which came 2nd!!

2nd place
I used some coordinations card for the base layers and the image is off a Daisy Trail Digi kit. The flower was made with coordinations and the heart was made using grungeboard which was cut out with a stunning Tim Holtz die and then embossed with dark red ultra thick embossing powder and finished with the flourish at the top. Well 2nd place is not bad so happy with my creation. Thanks for stopping by xxxx
