Crafters Companion embossing folders number 3

Out of all the folders this is the one I had the most problem with!!! Other Design Team members have created some stunning samples using this Lips folder so dont be put of by my interpretation of them..lol.

Card number 1 was made using some Centura pearl card in the embossing folder through my Grand Calibur. I then used a bright pink pan pastel over the whole card but really worked it into the raised areas. I then added some peel offs from my stash.It was then mounted onto a white card blank. Card number 1;

 Now for number 2. Again I used some centura pearl card and embossed it. I then went over the card with distress ink, worn lipstick to be exact..lol. To finish I added some more peeloffs from my stash and mounted it onto some red coordiations and mounted it on centura pearl card blank. Card number 2;

Now for the final card...this time I used a pale pink Coordinations and ran it through the embossing folder and then lightly sanded it. This was then mounted onto a white piece of centura pearl and then onto  a pale purple centura card blank...the last and final card;

Thanks for stopping by and please visit the Crafters Companion website to see other design team samples as they have done some stunning work.

Crafters Companion Embossing folders number 2

This next folder from Crafters Companion was lovely to work with as the design is beautiful. I love butterflies and my business cards have several on so it was a pleasure to use this folder.

The 1st card was made using Centura pearl card and was put through the embossing folder in my Grand Calibur. I then used some pan pastels, a new purchase of mine, and went over the raised part of the image for a soft effect.To finish the card was mounted onto some coordinations card and then put onto a centura pearl card blank. number 1;

Card number 2 was slightly different and not so soft as number 1. I used a black piece of coordinations, ran it through the embossing folder in my grand Calibur and then lightly sanded to show up the embossed image. This was then mounted onto some white card and then attached to a black card blank. I then added several die cut butterflies in white card and a sentiment and a couple of roses to finish. Card number 2;

Card number 3 was easy as it used my favourite colours. I embossed a purple piece of coordinations and lightly sanded. This was the mounted onto more purple coordinations and then onto a 8X8 card blank which had been inked around the edges with some distress inks. Again i made a die cut butterfly and added a sentiment. Card number 3;

Thanks for stopping by and now for number 3........

Some new embossing folders from Crafters Companion

Number 1

When  3 embossing folders came through the door I must admit I was very puzzled as to what to make of them!!!!! The 1st one out of the packet was a 12inch ruler/tape measure. I did have a light bulb moment with this one and set to work making 3 different cards. The 1st was using the Male Occupations CD from Crafters Companion I chose a very hunky workman with his hammer, printed of some of the backing papers and then ran some orange coordinations in the embossing machine through my Grand Calibur and then sanded it down very lightly and there you have it;

The second card was made using some images from the Crafters Companion female hobbies CD. I printed out the image of the manikin and then some co-ordinating backing paper and a cotton reel. I then again used coordiantaions in the embossing folder and lightly sanded it back and here is card number 2;

Now what to do for card number 3..mmmmmmm a Teacher came to mind thinking back to the days when I was a school and got hit with the ruler. I used the Crafters Companion female occupations CD which had a teacher on and here you have it card number 3 made using more coordiantions card in orange;

 So those are samples of number 1 embossing folder...number 2 to follow shortly. Thanks for stopping by xxx

Something very different

At the weekend I was able to have a day of play time due to been snowed in and no crafting design parcels to deal with.

My wonderful husband brought me for christmas "Tim Holtz Compendium of Curiosities" volume one and two. I am a fan of everything Tim Holtz but never seem to be able to watch the videos etc so the books were perfect as i had time to browse through the books and make a few online purchases so that I could have a play but that time never seemed to come but thanks to the snow I was able to ...........

The books are wonderful and take you through each process step by step so I had a go at creating my own metal looking embellishments using embossing powders, Inking grunge paper with different inks and then over stamping as below;

I then had a play with a tag and tried out the rusted enamel technique which involved inking up the tag with distress ink and then pouring on clear embossing powder but then knocking some off so once melted it would have a few gaps. You then ink over the embossed tag with a brown distress ink working it into the gaps and then wipe away excess with tissue to leave a real aged enamel finish. To this I added some over stamping and then made some great grunge paper flowers;

The final inky play of the day was double distressing.....I firstly embossed a piece of grunge paper in a cogs embossing folder. I then inked over the whole piece working in the ink to the recessed areas. I then used a darker ink pad and rubbed it directly over the raised areas of the paper. This was followed by some ink being applied to my craft sheet and the paper then been dragged across. This gave even greater effect to the raised areas depending on what colours you chose. To finish it was inked around the edges to add some shadow.;

To finish I backed onto black card and then mounted it onto a card blank covered in some steampunk paper from Docrafts which was distressed around the edges. To finish I embossed several cogs cut from grunge paper and stamped and inked a tag to finish.

Well I hope you like my Something different and considering distress was mentioned very frequently I must admit at the end of my play day I felt very relaxed but very inky.

Happy crafting xxxx

Snowed in..

The last few weeks have been a bit of a blur but now as I am happily snowed in  I felt that I should update my blog but also show you my entry into the Polka Doodles January challenge.

The lovely image is from Emma Canning who draws the most wonderful digi stamps which can be found on the Polka Doodles website.

I just coloured her in using my promarkers and then created a Tag instead of a card for a change. The papers and sentiment are from the Candy Doodles CD

  1.  Thanks for stopping by and happy crafting x

 This is my 1st post of the New Year so I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and I hope 2013 will be full of crafting fun. Things have not been easy over the last few weeks and to top it all have been loosing our phone and internet so I thought I had better get this post done quickly so that it manages to get through!!!

Well the wonderful team at Crafters Companion along with the wonderful Nigel May from Create and Craft have created yet another A-May-zing CD. This one is Blooming amayzing and is a must for all you floral fans. The images and design sets are up to the wonderful fantatsic standard that you expect from Crafters Companion but they have added a few extras like shaped cards in 3 different sizes and some amazing paper flowers.

 I had the task of making some samples for the launch which will be on Monday on Create and craft at 6pm live from America!!!!!!

There are so many stunning images on the CD that I had no idea where to start so I decided to concentrate on one image and use all aspects from the CD like shaped cards, decoupage etc and create a box set full of the different items. These are what I created;
