Polka Doodles summer

Well it looks as if summer is finally here!!! The lovely Nikky Hall over on the polka doodles blog is running a weekly blog challenge with the theme being summer so with the sun shining I thought I would have a go.

On the polka Doodles website there are some great download digi stamps from an artist called Emma Canning. All the designs are so modern and great to colour in using a colouring medium of choice. I chose this charming image called Paige Love You and felt it was most suited to some summer colouring.

The papers are printed from several of the wonderful Polka Doodles CDs but all of the colours come together nicely. I made the paper flowers from coordinations card and the fanciful flourish is also made with coordinations. A few card candi embellishments to finish and there you have it my entry into the Polka Doodles Summer blog challenge;

Moreheads sneaky peeks

Crafters Companion are launching a fantastic CD on Friday as pick of the week on Create and Craft. The moreheads double CD is packed with loads of goodies including all the usual contents of Crafters Companion CDs but with lots of extras including some stunning embellishments and shaped cards which you will get to see on other design team members blogs.

As my design team role is slightly different as I have to create jewellery using the CD I fancied trying something different with some of the stunning embellishments.

I printed out 2 pages of the same sheet of flower embellishments onto milky shrink plastic and left to dry overnight. Then with great care I cut out the images that I wanted and using a hole punch created the holes for my findings to go through and then shrunk them using a heat gun. The ink was still a bit unstable so I sprayed them with gold spray and sparkle to completely seal it. Then using gold findings from the gold chain pack from the Beaders Companion website I put together this necklace using jump rings to join the flowers together and added a  couple of pink beads from the small glass bead box also available on the website.These were then connected onto the gold chain from the pack and this is the finished result;

Necklace and earrings

To complete the set I made a small gift box and used one of the decoupage toppers from the CD and with some of the flowers left over I shrunk these down and added as embellishments.

Thanks for stopping by and keep an eye open for more sneaky peeks xxx

A few days with Wellington the Bear

A few weeks ago my wonderful hubby brought me a Docrafts goody bag from our local craft store. I had never had one of these before and was I in for a treat.It was packed with wonderful 12X12 papers in fantastic contrasting colours, toppers,decoupage, embellishments including huge flowers and buttons and even large brads and all for £15. So over the past few weeks when I have wanted to do something a bit different from my design team work for Crafters and Beaders Companion, out came the purple bag and I got busy. All that I have added to the kit is basic card stock and Coordinations card for the matting and layering and a few embellishments , paper flowers and a few pearls and gems , otherwise everything else was in the kit. Here are just a few of the cards that I made..enjoy;

Beaded Jewellery Challenge

I must admit that I have had a very productive day so far..it helps the fact that I have been up since 4am!!!
After having days of making design team projects I fancied doing something a bit different and the lovely Rachel Brown is running a challenge on the Beaded Jewellery Challenge page on facebook. The theme for this months entries is cubes.
 So I had a rummage through my beady stash and came up with these lovely Goldstone cubes and natural agate cubes and thought they would be perfect.
I have added in some Golden jade rounds and some brown goldstone and red aventurine chips with a few glass faceted beads for some sparkle and with the addition of some gold chain I am happy with the finished project. It almost looks good enough to eat.......chocolate mmmmmm

Beaded Jewellery challenge Prize

Well I have finally done it. In June I entered a Beaders Blog challenge to make an item of jewellery with the inspiration taken from a purple design. I posted a photo of the set I made back then and i was lucky enough to win the prize of some great beads and silver heart pendant. I have been so busy over the past few months that I had not got round to making anything with the prize but at the weekend I finally got myself pulled together and made the collection of jewellery below and am very happy with the results;

I have also been busy making more design samples for Beaders Companion using the very addictive Kumihimo braided jewellery disks. The samples I have made are on the Beaders Companion website and the Beaders Companion Blog. The product is being launched today at 12 noon on Create and Craft. It is a very therapeutic hobby and so easy to do and you dont have to just make jewellery as I used some as embellishments for cards.
